Free Fonts and Designs for Making Vinyl Decals PLUS Licenses Explained!!

In this post, I'm going to show you all of my favourite places to find free fonts and designs to make vinyl decals with. I’m also going to try and explain licenses along the way - which ones you're allowed to use to sell with and which ones you aren’t etc.

Watch the video or have a read below ….

The content below contains affiliate links and we may earn a commission if you shop through them, however this won't cost you anything, it just helps us to keep the site running for free. For more information on affiliate links, see the disclosure here.

Creative Market

The first and one of my favourites is Creative Market. They have such a great range of high quality designs, fonts and elements etc. You do have to pay for a lot of them but every week they give away six free goods which always include fonts. Also, there are often elements and sometimes mock-ups you can use for making decals.

A commercial license (sometimes called a Desktop license) is almost always given with the free ones which can be used in unlimited commercial and personal projects.

This is a great website to sign up for their free weekly emails reminding you what the freebies are and what is available.

Font Squirrel

All of Font Squirrel’s fonts are 100% free for commercial use and they have some good instructions to help you install them.

Font Bundles

Font Bundles is another great website full of really good fonts, including some really good quality ones Again, a lot of them you do have to pay for but they have a free font section too. I think the majority of the free fonts come with a premium license but always double check before you sell anything that they do allow commercial use. if you want to know a bit more click on the small print which gives you information about the conditions of their licenses.

Design Bundles

Design Bundles is Font Bundle’s sister site and they do some cool SVG designs and lots of bundles at really great prices. They are great for Halloween and Christmas designs, so it is worth taking a look at their free section (which links you back to fontbundles.net). Those with a premium license are fine to use for making and selling decals.

Hungry JPEG

The next one on my list is thehungryjpeg.com. This is another site full of great designs offering a weekly freebie, which usually comes with a complete license which allows you to use it for unlimited projects. You can check the details in their license section. Sometimes you just have to share the font on Facebook to get it for free.

Love SVG

Love SVG have lots of SVG cut files on their website so if you don’t want to make your own designs this is a great place to find some. However, this site is a bit different from the others mentioned as you are only allowed to use them for projects which are for personal use or to give away for family and freinds.

If you want to sell them under a commercial license then you will need to pay for a subscription. However, LoveSVG do upload 3 designs for free commercial use daily, which you can use on your decals.

Drawkit

The last one on my list is drawkit.io where you can find great icons to use within your design. For example, if you were looking for a quote about doughnuts and wanted to add an image of one, you would find one on this site.

You are only permitted to use their icons within an existing design and not on their own but are free to use them for commercial purposes on prints and mugs etc, as outlined in their license terms.

Please just remember that everything I've said about licenses is currently true as of October 2020 and things could change at any time. So if you are selling decals, double check you have a commercial license on the font or SVG file etc. before you start selling it. It will become clearer as to which ones you can use once you start downloading more of them.

I hope you enjoyed that. If you did please subscribe to my YouTube channel by clicking the button above.
