Last Minute Gift Ideas To Make With Decals

I feel like there are two types of people - those that buy presents months in advance and have everything organized, and those that are still sorting out presents the day before.

I set out with the very best of intentions to be the former, but without fail, especially at Christmas, I end up either making or buying some presents super last minute!

So with the help of my Cricut, I’ve kind of perfected the last-minute gift thing and so I thought I would share some of them with you. These are all gifts you can either make with things you may already have around the house or things you could easily get at a local shop or as a blank from Amazon on a quick turnaround delivery, assuming you also have vinyl and/or heat transfer vinyl at home as well.

If you do need vinyl, check out the supplier list on my website, as a lot of those places do have quick turnaround shipping options as well…

Photo frame

Everyone has blank photo frames lying around the house right? Or ones that have photos in but you just don’t use them anymore. Well, turn them into a thoughtful gift!

Either just add a photo of you and your SO, with your best friend, or one of the kids/grandkids, and add a cute quote at the top, or a date and location of when the special photo was taken.

Or, do what I did a few years ago for my parents - I saved a map of where they had just moved to and added a heart to the location of their home, then framed it and added some co-ordinates to the bottom and their names to the top. You could also add the street name, when they moved in, their family name… whatever you like to make a custom little print for them to treasure in their home.

Tshirt or Pyjamas

This is the perfect one for your other half or kids - as long as you know they’re not attached to their plain shirts or pyjamas, add something on there that makes them more fun.

Or you can usually buy blanks really cheap off amazon too.

Last Christmas I bought myself and my husband plain black T-shirts and made us both matching Christmas pyjamas to wear on Christmas eve!

Plant pot

This is another thing we have lots of in our house - a blank plant pot with eyes on, or a funny quote, or whatever you like is such an easy present, especially for someone who loves their houseplants!

But it’s even better because it can double as a pen pot or storage pot or anything they want it to be really.

Mug/Glass/Cup

Again, these are super easy to either get in a shop, or online, or lying around your house, just make sure they’re properly cleaned obviously! And the different designs you can do with these are endless.

I seem to make these every year for friends and family (although I do try to not do them for the same people every year so that they don’t end up with cupboards full!).

One year I did all of the women in my family a fancy champagne flute with their name on. Last year I made my cousin’s fiance a ‘dad to be’ pint glass as they were expecting. And another year I got my grandad a mug with a space for a cookie and put his name on that as he loves biscuits.

So as you can see, there is something for everyone there!

Teatowel/Pot Holder

This is one I have never actually tried, but think I might do it this year for someone as I saw some nice blank white tea towels in a local shop recently. I haven’t quite decided whether to make festive ones, or add monograms so they can be used year round, but check out Design Bundles for some inspiration…

Teddies

If you can find a soft toy with a smoother material on the ear or belly, you should be able to add a name, or any other kind of personalization you want to it, using iron-on vinyl.

I do tend to avoid giving these to babies though because it’s the type of thing that would really need to be tested if you were selling them, and I don’t have that capability.

Nail decals

This is a perfect one as you don’t need to buy any blanks, you just need to give them on their backing paper and explain how to apply them. It would also be a great addition to an existing gift if you have already bought some nail varnishes or other beauty products.

I still need to make a nail decals tutorial video, as you can see, I’m not very good with nail art in general, but I do definitely want to try them!

DIY decals

And then just like the nail decals, you could just do some standard DIY decals for people that they can stick on whatever they want - this could be their name, their favorite character, an affirmation for their mirror, a funny saying, or sticker sheets if they’re a kid or like to journal. Or anything you think that might work for them!

I hope that has given you some inspiration, let me know in the comments if you have any other great last minute gift ideas.
