Best Selling Vinyl Decals

Check out my brand new bundle for everything you need to get your Cricut business up and running.

When I started my business, I didn’t really set out to have a specific niche, I just started adding wedding products because I was planning a wedding myself. Since then I’ve stuck with weddings and also do event and special occasion items and I truly believe that has helped me stand out and do really well as I’ve focused all my energy in attracting a specific kind of customer, rather than just having a huge array of different products that anyone might want to buy.

Watch this to find out what I think are the top 5 different categories of vinyl decals that are the most popular…

Or take a look at my list below…

  1. Other Businesses

Traditionally a lot of decal makers sell to other businesses and have larger machines, offices and/or warehouses, but even with a smaller machine you can work from home and do the following…

  • Car and van decals

  • Logo signs

  • Window stickers (opening times/sale sigsn etc)

  • Floor signage

  • Custom items for that business to give away

  • If you’re selling iron-on vinyl then DIY decals for their tshirts or uniforms

You actually might be an advantage as well as a smaller business, as you can target other small businesses that aren’t able to order the large requirements that bigger sign companies sometimes require. Plus, they might prefer to buy from smaller businesses being one themselves.

2. Weddings

Obviously, in recent times it has been a bit more difficult for wedding businesses but I’m happy to say I’ve still pretty much had consistent sales all year, even if they have been a bit smaller or for weddings way in the future. For weddings you can do decals for…

  • Signs

  • Table plans

  • Place names

  • Bridesmaid proposal boxes

  • Bachelorette party stuff and so much more.

3. Home organization

With the success of the Home Edit and Marie Kondo in the US, and people in the UK’s Mrs Hinch obsession, decals for the home have become so popular recently, as have DIY home decor as a lot of people have been focusing on renovation. Think…

  • DIY decorative signs

  • Pantry stickers

  • Custom shampoo and conditioner bottles

  • Bin stickers.

4. Babies & Kid's Stuff

There is a huge market for babies and children’s items. With them growing so fast and their interests changing all the time, removable wall decals are perfect for decorating bedrooms and playrooms. But you could also sell decals for…

  • Children’s toy boxes

  • Lunch boxes

  • Water bottle stickers

  • Tshirts

  • Growth charts

And lots more! You may just need to be wary of rules and regulations around baby toys and clothes - I’m not 100% on where one stands when selling decals for those and there may be certain tests that need to be done if you sell them for specific items.

5. Seasonal

I didn’t check the stats, but I would imagine the time when buyers spend the most money is during the holidays! So get your holiday calendar ready and your thinking cap on to see what specific vinyls you could create to cater to your customers throughout the year. Probably one of the easiest to plan for is Christmas. You could do…

  • Christmas Eve box decals

  • Bauble vinyls

  • Sign vinyl - maybe an Elf on the shelf or Santa Stop Here decal

  • Custom iron-ons for Christmas sweaters or PJs

  • Table settings

And so many more! And then in between the holidays you could of course also do birthdays, anniversaries, events, and anything else that people love to celebrate.

And so those are just 5 categories, and very generalized categories too! You can get way more specific and niche if you have a certain interest that you know a lot of other people love too. Or cross niches and mix a couple of the above together. As long as you have an audience in mind that you are confident will buy the decals that you’re making, you should do well.

And obviously trends change, new things are invented, pandemics happen! So it’s always best to stay on top of what’s popular and adapt if you need to. For some inspiration on how I come with new ideas, check out my post here…
